History

Devdaya's activities commenced in 1985 with establishment of Devdaya secondary school in Gujarat, India. This was followed with 11 primary and secondary schools.

Devdaya has also established a dispensary after the Gujarat earthquake in 2001. This was the first primary care and diagnostic centre with X-ray, Pathology Laboratory and Ultrasound facilities.

In 2004, we refurbished the N. R. Doshi Eye Hospital in Wankaner, Gujarat with modern surgical equipments and it was officially opened by the Lions International Vice President, Lion Ashok Mehta. Working alongside the Enfield Lions Club and the Mayflower (Billericay) Rotary Club, one of our principal aims is to cut out unnecessary "middlemen" and ensure that all funds raised make their way directly and without any administrative cost deduction to our projects.


Our story

Devdaya Charitable Trust India is built on dream of a widow ( Dayaben)  She was left to raise three very young children without funds. I am please to say that she has achieved her wish to educate children with dignity.

In return she asked her children to repay the society by giving health care and provide education in villages where there is no proper schools. With support from Lions Club and rotary club, Mehta family build 11 primary and secondary school in Wankaner and Morvi (Rajot District) of Gujarat.

In year 2001 population of Wankaner has to face massive damage done by earthquake. Mehta family was requested to refurbish and provide primary health care at very minimal fees. Primary health centre provides medical out patient, Path Lab ,X ray and sonographi and maternity services to less fortunate peoples

Dr.Ramnik Mehta and Mr.Lalitbhai Mehta join hands and formed Devdaya Charitable Trust in year -----. Mr. Lalit Mehta  highly educated, philanthropist and Ex.M.P. Is  first President of Devdaya Charitable trust. Mr.Lalit Mehta  accepted challenge to complete the dream of a Dayaben.

D.C.T. made contribution to built Santaba Computer centre and Technical school in Wankaner

In 2004 D.C.T. acquired and refurbishes N.R.Doshi Eye Hospital in Wankaner to provide totally free eye care to patients.
On the bases of one medical fact “ Childhood blindness is avoidable in 80 to 90% of cases by simple treatment or surgery.” D.C.T. has started programme of prevention of blindness in children in year 2005. First mobile eye clinic was commissioned by Lion International President Shri Ashok Mehta on 09 July 2005. Fully equipped mobile clinic is use to screen children in their own schools and identify the eye morbidity and treat or refer to base hospital at Wankaner.

November 2008 with the help of Lions Club of Enfield built first super specialist children eye surgery unit in ground of N.R.Doshi Eye Hospital.  In Year 2009 Government of Gujarat officially designated as a first super speciality children eye surgery unit of Gujarat and requested all D.B.C. units to send patients.

In year 2010 trust has plan to release 6 more mobile eye clinic based in various city of saurashatra and actively participate in school eye screening  programme.

Vidya Bharati trusts for education ,Devdaya trust for Health care and Gaushala trust for Animal welfare are separate entities for administration and finance..

We work as a team to and provide a comprehensive care to society.
